Mexico! Such a great place to unplug and get away from the hustle and bustle of life and relax for a few days especially in the winter. This was from 2 winters ago but I wanted to share some of my vacay pictures here.
I stayed at the all-inclusive Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa which is about half an hour from Cancun International Airport. I went in October which is monsoon season and the resorts were also affordable at that time of the year.
A trip to Mexico wouldn’t be complete without visiting the ruins. I did not get to go to Tulum but I visited Chichén Itzá the famous Mayan ruin which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the new seven wonders of the world. Fun fact for all Tintin fans- Chichén Itzá was the back drop used for the 23rd book called Tintin and the Picaros.
Isla Mujeres is Spanish for Island of the Women named by the Spanish after they saw several images of Maya goddesses when they first arrived in the 16th century.
The island is beautiful and was a short ferry ride away from our resort and a perfect way to spend the day exploring the trinket shops. The most common way to get around the island is renting scooters or golf carts. Since there were a bunch of us, we rented a golf cart and enjoyed zipping up and down the island stopping to enjoy the scenic views of the Caribbean and enjoying some fabulous seafood!
